留学生的OPT是否受疫情影响？国际学生放弃毕业后留美计划？
根据媒体报道，许多国际学生已经放弃或未申请OPT。即使是那些仍然选择申请OPT的人，也可能由于开放的职位减少而遇到就业困难。
01 目前OPT情况
University of Minnesota的大四学生Julie Lee来自韩国，是国际留学生。作为“OPT”计划的一部分，她计划在美国再留一年，并申请研究生院校进修。然而，COVID-19的大流行阻碍了她的计划。
按照父母的意愿，Lee放弃了OPT并于一个月前离开美国。现在，她专注于大学的最后一个学期，并准备在韩国的家中攻读研究生。
Lee是其毕业后计划受到COVID-19影响的众多国际学生之一。
OPT是国际学生在美国合法工作的少数选择之一。
负责OPT事务的USCIS将继续处理不需要亲自面试的petiiton和移民福利申请。但是，据美国移民局发言人称，由于疫情可能会有一些延误。
根据USCIS的数据，2019年，USCIS批准了全美超过150,000个OPT申请，约70,000个STEM OPT申请，另外约有8000个申请被拒。
University of Minnesota的ISSS的助理院长Barbara Kappler说，大学的国际学生和学者服务部工作人员已经了解到了国际学生的担忧。她表示一些大学生仍继续在申请OPT，但很难找到工作。
Kappler在电子邮件中说：“对于特定的主要或与行业相关的求职问题，我们鼓励学生联系其大学职业办公室。” “ ISSS有一个常见问题解答的版块，可以解决OPT和许多其他类型的国际学生问题。”
ISSS创建了有关COVID-19的指南以帮助国际学生。该指南说，学生目前仍可以通过电子申请方式来申请OPT。但是，OPT学生需要实际留在美国。
据Kappler称，ISSS将通过其常见问题解答和通过电子邮件发送相关公告，提供来自USCIS的最新消息。尽管对在美国感染冠状病毒的担忧仍在继续，但一些国际大学的学生仍将继续他们的OPT计划。
该大学计算机科学的大四学生Panglei Xu早前获得了ISSS的OPT批准。在此之前，他已收到大学IT学院的工作offer。Xu现在正在等待USCIS的OPT批准。
此外，研究生Jheyang Yuan之前拿到了工作offer，原本可以在3月18日开始工作，但是州长Tim Walz随后宣布了居家令。到目前为止，Yuan还没有开始她的工作。

03 申请Remote实习，积累工作经验
远程实习不需要去现场，直接在电脑上就能操作。对于受到各种限制的学生来说，远程实习要远远比现场实习方便得多。
远程实习通常需要学生从事研究项目或社交媒体方面的工作，因为他们需要的只是一台笔记本电脑和互联网接口。在跨国公司和远程虚拟办公盛行的世界里，这类作法很有意义。
远程实习适合人群：
1. 受到地域时间限制、无法实地参与实习的
很多留学的同学，因为地域原因和时间原因，能实习的时间可能只有1-2个月左右，做远程实习再合适不过。而且remote实习也是正式的实习，也会有实习证明，会提供背景调查，表现优异者有机会拿到推荐信。
2. 没有美国公司相关经验的起步者
很多同学的正式求职过程中，因为没有相关经验，所以屡屡碰壁。Remote实习就是一个非常好的创造机会，通过这份实习，你的简历上面就有了美国公司相关实习经验，这对于起步者来说是非常重要的经历。
3. 接触行业从业人员
远程实习并不一定全是在校生，毕业了也可以申请。可以接触到了行业内的从业人员，可以平时多联系，supervisor也会多教你一些东西，在你面试全职工作时也有所帮助。
